Today was the check-up with Dr. Cheng, the oncology orthopedist who did Steve’s surgery. The X-ray and exam revealed that he is healing properly and everything looks good at this point. So we just have to be patient and wait for more healing to take place. Steve still has pain, but he is moving easier and able to get around some. We have moved out of the Minneapolis apartment, so we are officially North Dakotans again!! Follow-up medical appointments are scheduled for May–if all goes well.

Steve (& Libby) were able to leave the hospital later yesterday (Monday). The pain issue seems to be more under control. The plan is to be in Minneapolis until Steve is able to travel and then they will return to Fargo so Libby can get back to school and Steve can recover from his surgery.

Surgery went well. It was 3 hours and 21 minutes long plus he was in recovery room over 3 hours. The break is quite a set-back. In 2-3 months we will know if it is healing properly and it will take up to a year to know if it is totally successful or not. Steve has been in extreme pain. It is taking longer than after the amputation for the pain to be controlled.

Steve fell and fractured his femur (on his left leg–the stump)and will have surgery on Friday at Riverside Hospital in Minneapolis. Dr. Cheng, who did his amputation, will be doing the surgery late afternoon or early evening. Please keep him in your thoughts.
