Erik was diagnosed with stage 4 high-risk neuroblastoma (cancer of the sympathetic nervous system) at 6 years old. He was in remission and very healthy for 13 years until May 2005, when Erik was diagnosed with recurrent neuroblastoma at 20 years old in bone and marrow. He was in remission for one year, until he relapsed again at 21.

Jeff was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in his left femur and a metastatic spot on his lung on March 16 2009. He is receiving treatments at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester and in Fargo. Jeff had an AKA on June 5th, 2009.
Nicholas was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma of the sarcum and pelvis in July 2006. After receiving new Photon radiation treatments, remission, relapse, chemo and many complications, Nicholas is now receiving chemo at University of Minnesota in conjunction with MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas.
Spencer's story is very similar to Steve's. Spencer was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in March 2009 after falling and breaking his femur. After grueling first session of chemo treatments (while in traction), the decision was made to amputate Spencer's leg; he's now receiving further chemo on floor 5B at the University of Minnesota Children's hospital.

The Amputee Coalition of America (ACA) is a national, non-profit amputee consumer educational organization representing people who have experienced amputation or are born with limb differences. The ACA includes individual amputees, amputee education and support groups for amputees, professionals, family members and friends of amputees, amputation or limb loss related agencies, and organizations.
The ACA defines prosthetic parity as insurance companies covering prosthetic care on par with other basic medical services. This Blog is intended to help groups organize at the grassroots level to support the state and federal campaign.
